| Beloved Spot Bush Passes Away | ||||||||||||||||||
|
Tom Watkins of CNN just called me to tell me that CNN has learned from the White House today, that at about 1:30 Spot Bush, the Springer Spaniel, daughter to Millie Bush, has been put to sleep at the age of 15 years. Her remains will be sent to the Ranch in Crawford, Texas. This must be extremely hard for George and Laura and I know all of us pet lovers everywhere will feel and share their grief. She was a beloved pet and companion to the Bushes for all those years and is the second generation pet of a second generation President and held many distinctive honors. Her friend and companion, Barney Bush, must feel the emptiness and loss also, but like many Scottish Terriers, he is busy with his life as the White House Ambassador of good will towards all creature great and small and will help the President and First Lady carry out the work of the Nation by being there for them when they share quite moments alone. I will be going to the White House on Feb. 27th to meet with Barney now and to bring my condolences to him and hopefully meet Willie, their black cat, if she isn't hiding. If any of you wish to send through me e-mails to deliver to the Bush's, I will hand carry them to the White House to reach the First Lady's desk. The relationship between our First families and their pets is brought home more and more these days as we see the need for their companionship at the seat of power. Thank you for being a supporter and friend of the Presidential Pet Museum. |
