President Calvin Coolidge and his wife Grace were avid animal lovers, and no President before or since has had as many pets both during and after their time in the White House. Among the Coolidge pets were many birds, including a thrush named Old Bill.
Old Bill joined the family during Coolidge’s Vice-Presidency, just after they moved to a semi-private home in Washington D.C. Not much is known about Old Bill, so he must have lived a quiet and uneventful life compared to some of his furry family members who often made the news. Other Coolidge birds include: Nip and Tuck, Snowflake, Goldy, Do-Funny, and an unnamed mockingbird.
