President Grover Cleveland and his First Lady Frances (called “Frank” or “Frankie” by many) were great animal lovers, particularly Frances. Like so many other Presidential families, they had a plethora of pets while in the White House, some more famous than others.
In addition to many birds, fish, and ponies, the Clevelands had several dogs. One of these dogs was a collie. Unfortunately, although the collie is listed in several sources as belonging to the Clevelands, little more information can be found on this particular pup.
Grover and Frances had homes in Buzzard’s Bay and Washington D.C. respectively throughout their presidential terms and it is likely this elusive collie spent most of his time in one of those homes.
