Theodore Roosevelt is one of the most well-known Presidents of the past. He made several important changes during his time in office, not the least of which was passing the Pure Food and Drug Act and establishing the United States Forest Service. Roosevelt and his family were also dedicated animal lovers and during their lifetimes owned an incredible amount of pets, from the mundane to the exotic. One such pet was a barn owl.
Little is known about the Roosevelt owl, as he receives almost no mention in history. Many sources state that he was with the Roosevelts when they moved into the White House, but this cannot be verified. In any event, the Roosevelts were excellent pet caretakers and it is likely that their barn owl lived a long and happy life.
