Let’s face it — pets can sometimes be naughty, regardless of how much they are loved. And the pets who are lucky enough to call the White House home are no exceptions.
President Obama’s two Portuguese water dogs, Bo and Sunny, are great examples of normal dogs living with high expectations. But dogs will be dogs, no matter where they lay their heads.
Truth be known, Bo, the older of the pair, underwent some fairly intensive training and is said to be very well-behaved. According to his trainer, he has never had a house-training mishap — unlike his sister, Sunny, who seems to have a mischievous nature.
When Sunny joined the family two years ago, in 2013, she had received no behavioral training as Bo had, nor was she potty trained.
And now? Well, she has been known to “go” on the White House floors when no one is watching.
Her elegant living style has not changed her bad habits in the least. She once caused a visiting toddler fall, but in all fairness, she did offer her rendition of an apology: a good ol’ face licking for the child who took the tumble.
Despite Sunny’s unwillingness to get potty-trained, she and Bo will be having a merry Christmas filled with treats, toys and lots of love. After all, without them around, life at the White House would get a little dull at times.
