Thank you for a wonderful site dedicated to pets. I have two cats and one dog. The dog is a pug that has been a lot of company to me,as I’ve not long ago lost my husband and Duke lost a very loved master. But we are both healing together. In my husbands last days he said, “TAKE CARE OF MY PUPPY” which he knew I would do.

William Smith says
It’s about time! With all the presidential libraries, it is good to see your web site and museum for their pets. Every president is in the position of being alone at the top, what better than to have a companion who is loyal and can keep a secret.

I believe this site is just a start! Go and check out the museum. Keep up the fantastic work.
lynda straub says
I think this is a great web page. I encourage my students to visit it often. It’s a great way to get kids to learn about the presidents. They become so interested they forget it’s called “learning” instead of “fun.”
Thank you for having it available to everyone.
Sheila Willis says
My son and I were interested in how India, the cat, got her name. We watch Ruben Sierra play baseball and think it is nice that the cat was named after him.

Came across your web page after reading the article in the Sunday Washington Times. Nice to know you exist!
I had the pleasure of meeting Millie back when George Bush was still VP. I was in a receiving line for a picnic at the VP’s mansion. Millie was there along with George & Barbara, and instead of shaking Barbara’s hand, I stooped to pet Millie!!!

I think that the Obamas need a Poodle. I have a Shetland Sheepdog and boy does he bark a-lot.

I think they should pick the dog that best fits their family; I don’t think anyone has a right to tell someone what breed of companion animal they should have! Freedom of Choice!

I think the new White House pet should been a Dodson dog. Thay make a very nice dog. For small children and his wife and he could take it with him on the airplanes. From the Thomas family in Portland, Indiana.

If President Obama and family want to get a shelter dog, then they should pick a mutt, which is what most shelters have the most of.

The Prez family should get a white poodle! during family gatherings he can be the big white elephant in the room; hahaha I made a political joke!

Site looks terrific, nice job and very interesting and engaging. Good Luck
John Rovenolt says
You have created a truly niche archival wonder of history! We all know that no matter their political affiliation, the job of being President is stressful and overwhelming just like the citizens that person governs. Thank God for the pets we have to take us away from those stresses of daily life and give us that unconditional love that only animals could give us. This site sure emulates the wholesome spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, the Catholic patron saint of animals! 🙂

I just came across this fascinating website. Since it is not likely that I’ll get to the D.C. area in the near or far future, I’m glad this website is available. Hippos, alligators, sheep, raccoons, mice, various wild birds, and the usual dogs, cats, horses, ponies, and the first pardoned turkey–an amazing collection.
Presidential Pet Museum says
Hi Kathy, thank you so much! Glad to have entertained you. The physical museum location is actually closed right now; we are hoping for funding to get it going again.
Michael says
I’m a long time lover of presidential history and animals alike. So it’s relly great that i was able to come by your site and learn about two things i love at the same time. Maybe it’s just me, but while i enjoyed reading up on all the presidential pets, i can’t help but be a little sad knowing that other then Obama’s two dogs all of these adorable animals are now gone.

Michael, thank you for your comment. We couldn’t agree more.
