The 47th President
On January 20th, 2021, Joseph Robinette Biden was inaugurated as the 47th president of the United States of America. He defeated the incumbent President Donald Trump in a contentious and bitterly fought campaign. In addition to being the oldest person ever to hold presidential office, Biden is also only the second practicing Roman Catholic. The first was John F. Kennedy, Jr., elected in 1961.
Biden also served as vice president under President Barack Obama from 2009 – 2017. During his tenure, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor.
